Ingredients:
- Fresh strawberries
- Whipped cream or cool whip (for homemade whip cream you’ll need heavy cream and powdered sugar )
- Poundcake, shortcake biscuits or angel food cake
Instructions:
- Prepare the Strawberries:
- Rinse the fresh strawberries under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Hull the strawberries by removing the green stems and any tough white cores.
- Slice the strawberries into thin, uniform slices. If you prefer, you can also dice them for a different texture.
- Whip the Cream:
- If you’re using store-bought whipped cream, simply give it a good shake and it’s ready to go.
- For homemade whipped cream, pour chilled heavy cream into a mixing bowl with 1/2 cup of powdered sugar (taste and add more sugar to your liking
- Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the cream on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.
- Be careful not to over-whip, as the cream can become grainy. Soft peaks should hold their shape but still be creamy and smooth.
- Assemble the Shortcakes:
- Dice the poundcake and place in a cup
- Spoon a generous portion of whipped cream
- Arrange a layer of sliced strawberries on top of the whipped cream.
- Continue to layer one more time!
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Once assembled, your Strawberry Shortcakes are ready to be enjoyed!
- For an extra touch of elegance, you can dust the top of each shortcake with powdered sugar or garnish with a fresh strawberry.
- Serve immediately and savor every blissful bite of this classic dessert.
Tips and Variations:
- Feel free to get creative with your Strawberry Shortcakes! Add a drizzle of chocolate sauce or caramel for a decadent twist, or sprinkle chopped nuts on top for added crunch.
- If shortcake biscuits are not available, you can use pound cake, angel food cake, or even plain sponge cake as a delicious alternative.
